‘Monster’ Tunes Mix (May ’13)

I recently made a mix with my good friend Fabs, and you can all listen to it here, or on my SoundCloud profile here. It features a good selection of uplifting house music and is the first mix I’ve been genuinely happy with, so have a listen and leave a comment if you could. More mixes on the way soon :)

Fez

Fez

So Fez has recently released for PC. If you don’t know what Fez is, I fully recommend not only looking into it, but also watching Indie Game: The Movie, which follows it’s problematic development and release.

When I first saw screens of Fez, I instantly fell in love. I’m a big fan of retro-looking games, and this one jumped out at me. Saying that, I have not yet purchased the game, but plan on picking it up very soon and will hopefully make some videos of playing it.

It’s only £6.99 on Steam, which seems an absolute bargain so make sure to buy it if you think you’d like it.

Now Playing: Dishonored

If getting through all my Steam games wasn’t already hard enough, I have now added another game to it. In my defense, I really couldn’t have held off buying it for much longer.

From my experience so far, Dishonored is a brilliant game. Saying that, I’ve not got very far as I’ve been playing around and finding out the best way of doing things. The great thing is that there is no ‘best’ way of doing anything; its up to you and the way you play. Now that I’ve got used to the game somewhat, I’d like to try to be as stealthy as possible and use non-lethal attacks. It’ll be hard but the sense of achievement is much higher compared to stabbing and shooting bad guys left and right.

I’ll be playing this for the foreseeable future. More to come when I’ve played more of it!

My Steam Library

Here is a list of all the games I have on Steam. This summer I plan on making a dent in the majority I haven’t played, and I’d really like to start a video series to document my efforts. There’s not been much thought into how I’d go about doing this (such as playing them alphabetically or separating them into indie etc), but I’d sure like to have a go. More details on this next month, when the academic year is over.

Now, I have played a good number of these games, but Steam tells me that I haven’t *finished* a single one of them. My video series would hopefully look at tackling the problem I have, where I never finish games that I start. It could be a good way to encourage people to play through their own backlog, as I’m sure there’s plenty of brilliant games in the list which have been overshadowed by more recent game releases. Also, there’s a good amount of indie games there, and a video series could help increase awareness of the indie game market, and show folk that these independent titles can be equally enjoyable (if not more so) than the more commercial ones.

Anyways, that’s about all for now. I’ll just get back to studying…

Hello World!

Here goes yet another attempt at creating and maintaining a personal blog. I’d like to use this to showcase work created for my game development degree, but I’ll also use it to talk about pretty much anything that tickles my fancy. There are a few ideas for personal projects in the works at the moment, so I’ll be sure to make updates on what they are as soon as possible.

For the time being, my efforts go towards coursework. There’s much to be done, and seemingly little time, but it should turn out well enough to show it off here when it’s finished. Here’s to a tonne of coffee and very late nights!

More soon!

Ciao.
